The Israel Structural Proteomics Center focuses its efforts principally on expression, purification and structure determination, primarily by X-ray crystallography, of protein targets of medical interest which are being investigated by scientists at the Weizmann Institute, at other academic institutions in Israel and by Israeli biotech and pharma companies. Targets of primary interest are related to diseases of the nervous system and to cancer. The ISPC is developing automated procedures for all stages of the pipeline, and is equipped, accordingly, with pipetting robots, with automated purification apparatus and with robots for setting up crystallization screens and for performing automated crystal visualization. All these processes are interfaced with a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) established "in-house", which is crucial for monitoring the the activities of the Center and for storing the large amounts if information accumulated.
