The Divisons of Molecular Structural Biology
and Medical Biophysics at the Department of Medical Biochemistry & Biophysics apply the techniques of structural biology, particularly macromolecular crystallography, to the study of biomedically important processes. The research interests of the divisions include structural enzymology, membrane proteins, and the structural study of proteins related to the immune system and inflammatory processes.
Technologies in use: HTP pipeline for protein production and crystallization including i) target selection and annotation ii) gene cloning, expression screening, protein production and characterization (including MS, DLS and thermofluor analysis) iii) automated crystallization screening including crystal imaging and recognition and v) automated structure determination methods.
