The Bijvoet Center of Utrecht University
maintains a state-of-the-art infrastructure for automated protein production for NMR samples (isotope labelling). It operates high-resolution NMR spectrometers ranging from 360 to 900MHz, and has built up expertise in the determination of protein structures in solution. The Bijvoet Center is equipped with a computer cluster for advanced biocomputational tasks such as protein-protein docking. The Bijvoet Center contributes its infrastructure and expertise to the project for the SPINE2-COMPLEXES structural characterization of protein complexes in solution.
Utrecht operates as the centre of expertise on NMR spectroscopy with the specific task to integrate the complementary capacity of NMR and crystallography. NMR structure characterization of failing X-ray targets and various NMR screening options are in development.
